Ralph Stanley II and The Clinch Mountain Boys

Son of a bluegrass legend, Ralph Stanley II has worked hard to earn respect as an artist in his own right. Making the guitar his instrument of choice at a young age, Ralph II traveled with his father and the Clinch Mountain Boys. The Clinch Mountain Boys continue to delight audiences to this day with their own brand of mountain music. Folks enjoy hearing both the traditional Stanley sound and Ralph Stanley II’s own heartfelt musical artistry.

Joe Mullins and The Radio Ramblers

In the holiday spirit, Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers bring their Christmas show to the Lucketts stage. IBMA and SPBGMA awards, chart-topping songs, and Grand Ole Opry performance provide evidence for this band’s ability to please crowds. Staying close to bluegrass roots while performing tunes from some of the best contemporary songwriters in bluegrass, The Radio Ramblers thrill audiences with heart-felt singing and great bluegrass picking.

Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike

Help us welcome the new year with Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike. “Soulful,” “effervescent,” and “sassy” are adjectives that have been applied to this band leader and vocalist. Always grassy, but open to a range of influences and musical genres, this band of accomplished Virginia musicians present music that will appeal to a variety of folks. Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike’s music transcends boundaries and brings people together.

SUNDAY 4 PM - The Po' Ramblin' Boys

The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys bring their authentic, passionate bluegrass back to the Lucketts schoolhouse stage for a special Sunday 4 pm matinee performance. This exciting band brings their tight music and polished stage presence for a special Sunday afternoon show. Band members include CJ Lewandowski (mandolin), Jerome Brown (banjo), Josh Rinkel (guitar) and Jasper Lorentzen (bass). Barn-burning fiddler and vocalist Laura Orshaw rounds out the band. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this stellar band at the intimate Lucketts schoolhouse.

The Hillbilly Biscuits

The Hillbilly Biscuits perform high energy, foot stompin’ bluegrass and Appalachian music from the state of West Virginia. Husband and wife, Trae and Jamie Lynn Buckner have put together a group known for their high energy live performances. A Lucketts favorite, this band will have you swaying and tapping your toes.

Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass

Two time IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year, Danny Paisley leads a band with deep roots and respect for bluegrass tradition. It you love straight-up, heart-felt bluegrass music, you will love this band! Band members carry on the hard-driving bluegrass traditions of their fathers, with some help by ace mandolin player, young Ryan Paisley. Danny’s powerful vocals with captivate you, and the energy and musicianship of the entire band will make you smile.

Junior Sisk Band

The Junior Sisk Band is one of the finest bands playing traditional bluegrass music today. Widely recognized for his bluegrass vocals, this Mountain Fever recording artist reminds us that traditional bluegrass music is alive and well. Jonathan Dillon (mandolin), Heather Berry Mabe (guitar, vocals), Tony Mabe (banjo), and Curt Love (bass) form this talented band. Lucketts is very proud to host the Junior Sisk Band.

Dry Branch Fire Squad

Founded by Ron Thomason, Dry Branch Fire Squad is a beloved staple in the bluegrass world. The band is dedicated to ole-timey, bluegrass and gospel traditions. Ron is as much known for his humorous social commentary as for his musicianship. The wit, song choices, and traditional sound of Dry Branch Fire Squad make it one of the most entertaining bands on the bluegrass circuit. Currently a resident of Colorado, Ron and his fine band continue to travel to participate in the Lucketts Bluegrass Concert Series.

Kristy Cox and Grasstime

We are not sure how Kristy Cox found bluegrass music in Australia, but we are so glad she did! Making her home in Nashville, she and her band, Grasstime, experience radio success as well as a busy touring and recording schedule. She was received Australia’s Golden Guitar from the Country Music Association of Australia for her bluegrass recording, and is receiving recognition from the International Bluegrass Music Association. Enjoy this extremely talented singer from down under when she brings her fine band to the old schoolhouse stage.

The Grascals

For cutting-edge modern bluegrass performed with deep respect for tradition, The Grascals deliver. Their unique sound has earned three Grammy nominations and two Entertainer of the Year awards from the IBMA. Individual Grascals are well respected musicians and much awarded. A seasoned band, The Grascals still perform with excitement and zeal. We think this is one of the strongest bands in the genre, and we are proud to welcome them to the Lucketts stage.

Missy Raines and Allegheny

Missy Raines is a bluegrass trailblazer. The most awarded bass player in the history of the International Bluegrass Music Association, she sings, writes songs and leads a band. Allegheny is Ben Garnett on guitar, Eli Gilbert on banjo, Ellie Hakanson on fiddle, and Tristan Scroggins on mandolin. The band is named for the Allegheny highlands of West Virginia where Raines grew up. This band is a significant nod to her deep traditional bluegrass roots. The music is traditional and hard-driving at its core but energized with Raines’ well-known penchant for originality and innovation.
